Are Anxiety And Sensitivity To Light Normal While On Marijuana Withdrawal?

Hi, I am trying to stop smoking marijuana after like 20 years, of almost everyday use. I am taking hydroxazine to combat the withdrawal symptoms. I usually loose like 20lbs. Pretty quickly. I m 38 years old, and lately have been experiencing anxiety, and sensitivity to light. Is this normal. My eyes want to stay shut once I m out in the sunlight or even bright light.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, long term marijuana use is associated with changes at receptor level in number of aspects. The withdrawal of the marijuana on acute basis is associated with number of ill effects such as:
- Loss of appetite
- Craving for marijuana
- Loss of sleep
- Mood disturbances such as anger
- Visual disturbances
- Irritability
- Depression
- Stomach upset
- Headache
- Chills
- Increased sweating
- Others

Hence your symptoms are in relation with the withdrawal of the marijuana, which settles usually around a couple of weeks duration. Maintain hydration with plenty of liquids and eat balanced nutritious diet with involvement of physical aerobic exercises to combat the issue better way.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
