Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Are Anxiety Attacks Related With Tingling In Legs?
I have been having tingling in both legs along with electric shocks when walking. These only occur once a day and last usually a couple of hours. I also have tingling in both arms and the back of my neck is very tense. I am prone to panick attacks and extreme anxiety. Could this be causing these symptoms?
I went through your details. I suggest you not to worry much. Anxiety is fear of something which may or may not be true or may or may not happen in the future. Anxiety is known to produce so many weird symptoms which has no physiological back up. They tend to be just obsessive. I think your problem gets defined here.
These could be called obsessive thoughts. Brain (mind) is made for its own functions and its duty is to think. Therefore you cannot stop it from thinking. But you definitely can control the way it thinks by diverting its attention to more demanding things. Creative thinking should help brain diverting. If you try to forcefully overcome obsessive thoughts, it will come back every now and then and disturb you more vehemently.
Psychotherapy techniques should suit your requirement. If you require more of my help in this aspect, Please post a direct question to me in this URL. http://goo.gl/aYW2pR. Make sure that you include every minute details possible. I shall prescribe the needed psychotherapy techniques.
Hope this answers your query. Available for further clarifications. Good luck.
