Are Beta- Blockers Advisable When With BP Of 175/110?

I just went to the dr and my blood pressure was 175/110. I am currently taking divan 80 and the dr gave me bystolic 10 mg. I am afraid of beta blockers and am concerned about taking it. I do have some slight asthma and sometimes have issues with swelling in my lower right leg
