Are Black Spotting For About Three Months, Abdominal Cramps Followed By Pink Smelly Discharge While On Birth Control A Serious Concern?

Hi I was taking a birth control, I stopped taking it sometime around November. I then began to see black blood sports on my liner for like three months then it stopped. Few days ago I felt cramps and I thought I was gonna go on my days, it s been three days now the only thing that I see a pink like smelly discharge. I ve been abstaining for 6 months now, what could be the problem

Hello,

Your symptoms are indicative of the coming out of the old endometrial tissue and uterine lining that had failed to be expelled out. Taking birth control pills causes hormonal imbalance that may manifest as spotting or breakthrough bleeding that is brown or black in color. Pink smelly discharge that you are experiencing is a sign of infection like PID, STIs- chlamydia, gonorrhea, fibroids, endometriosis, etc. Get STD tests done. If tests are positive, you will be treated with antivirals and antibiotics.
