Are Blood Drops With Stool Normal After Megestrol Acetate 40mg Suspension Intake?
I am losing my weight since couple of months & my pcp did some blood works & the result was normal. So he prescribed me Megestrol Acet 40 mg suspension to take 2 ml twice a day. I m taking the medication for last two days, but today some drop of blood came with my stool. Is it regular or normal?
Blood in stool is not from the megestrol acetate. However, given your history of weight loss and blood in stools, it is concerning for pathologies of GI tract, most importantly neoplasm.
So, please be advised to follow up with your primary provider. Clinical evaluation, CT abdomen, Colonoscopy may all be needed at this point depending on your current situation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal,
