Dear Doctor,
First off, can a HIV rash appear after 4 months of non-sexual contact (casual touching but with severe dermatitis/open wounds on hands)?
Does it typically spread from the face to the chest and abdomen?
Mine first started below the eyes ( on one side only) and spread down the neck ( same side) and then to chest/abdomen. Lasted about 4 days, accompanied by mild fever and body aches ( neuropathic aches, esp in the legs).
Should I be worried? Indeed, there was no sexual contact of any kind, but I was spending time with HIV+ friend ( did not know at the time). I touched items in his household as well as his dog ( whose fur was wet on a number of occasions from "Godknowswhat"). i have severe neurodermitis on my hand with open wounds, I scratch them often ( I did that then, too). Could the inadvertent contact with some body fluids ( not that I realized it, though) have resulted into infection by my "rubbing" the virus into the wounds when I scratched my skin vigorously?
Thank you!
