Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Are Bruised Armpits And Severe Headache Normal While On Nuva Ring?
My 18 year old daughter started the Nuva ring birth control five days ago and today has large visible bruising under her armpits. She is also having a severe headache. She s away at college and we aren t sure what to do. Haven t read anything about bruising. Just breast tenderness.
As per my clinical experience, the Nuva ring contains Etonorgestrel / Ethylene estradiol used for contraception purpose. There are various issues associated as side effects of the same as: - Vaginal irritation - Vaginal discharge - Nausea, vomiting - Skin rashes in case of hypersensitivity - Headache (including migraine type aura) - Visual disturbances in some - Mood changes and irritability
It is highly recommended to contact her primary care and get it removed immediately.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
