Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Are Bruised Discoloration On Arms Normal Post Upper Endoscopy?
My husband just had today an upper endoscopy in preparation for a surgery for his esophagus and to fix a hernia. He is 55 and he feels good, but his back and under his arms are bruising and his veins on his arms are rather colorful. Is this a common side effect or should I be concerned.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy will not cause bruising or colorful veins on the arms. The bruising on arms is due to some other cause. Bruising occurs due to trauma or injury. Is there any history of trauma to arms or upper body? I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment to determine the cause of these symptoms.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
