Are Cold Sores A Symptom Of Oral Herpes?

i used my friends lip chap without knowing she had a cold sore. That was yesterday. Being the OCD paranoid freak that i am ive been thinking about it for the past 24 hours. then today our food orders got mixed up and she took a bite of my burger, which i then ate, Im so scared now that i have oral herpes. and it will ruin my life. Any tests to see if i have oral herpes without an actual cold sore present? I want to get tested so i can stop worrying about it.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain oral herpes is caused by Herpes simplex virus and it is one of the contagious infection..
First thing that I would like to tell you is that the chances of transmission of infection is more probable if your friend is having an active infection and a cold sore is still present..
Other thing is that you cannot get diagnosed so early as the incubation period of virus is from 2 to 12 days and you can get a blood test done atleast after 2 weeks and not now..
The other thing is that herpes infection can be controlled with antiviral medications and proper precautions, so thinking that it will ruin your life is a bad idea and you should not panic so much..
So better keep patience and wait for 2 weeks for getting tested..
You can also consult an Infectious medicine specialist and get proper counseling done..
