Are Confusion,green Stool And Hot Flashes Normal Side Effects Of Lexapro?

I have been on lexapro for 5 days now for post partum depression. I was originally on zoloft for 5 days then switched to lexapro after bad side effects of zoloft. I have been noticing hot flashes and green stool. I went to the doctors at first because I noticed some blood but after tests there was no blood I'm stool. Is this a common side effect ? Also I feel confused and out of sorts still but some days are better then ithers. I did notice some progress how long does this take to work and is confusion normal or still from post partum

Hello thanks for asking from HCM

You are taking Lexapro since 5 days. Lexapro is Escitalopram and it belongs to SSRI group of medicines. You have been taking Zoloft but due to its side effects shifted to Lexapro. Now you have side effects like hot flashes, green stool. When Escitalopram is started in any individual the individual may suffer side effects of increased anxiety and restlessness for first few day. The anxiety is also called rebound anxiety and it usually decrease by own in less than a week. The hot flashes you are having are probably due to this rebound anxiety only. As far as I know escitalopram doesn't cause greenish stools. The drug may result in increased incidence of bleeding in some susceptible individuals but your stool report says absent blood. So this could be due to some infection or other medical cause. I would advise you to consult your doctor if problem of greenish stools persists.
