Are Delayed Periods And Extreme Fatigue Suggestive Of Pregnancy?

Hi, I am 24 recently me and my girlfriend engaged in our first sexual intercourse we did not actually had a complete intercourse as she felt immense pain after the first push... I did made contact with out a condom before we did this. She started bleeding and felt pain and this continued for the next 4days. I have heard these problems are common after the first intercourse but 4days from today she was supposed to have her period started. She missed her period and now she is feeling very tired. She sleeps most of the time in a day. We were both really worried and she was very much worried about getting pregnant. She had period missing problems before we had sex but from last two days she is very tired. Please help me out. We are very much worried and we cannot face a situation where someone comes to know if she is pregnant. If these are really symptoms of pregnancy do we have a way to prevent it? Is there any other problem with her as she is experiencing these problems? Please help. I m waiting and hoping you will reply soon.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The delayed periods with extreme fatigue are not signs of pregnancy to your girlfriend, rather it is combination of bleeding induced blood loss with anxiety manifestations from fear of getting pregnant through first intercourse. Bleeding for 4 days in form of menses (as hymen rupture will not cause a 4 days bleed) rules out pregnancy. She needs to maintain her hydration and moral support to get well soon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
