Are Diabetes Type 2 And Elevated Cholesterol Levels Interrelated?

can you tell me the connection between high cholesterol and diabetes type 2? my cholesterol/lipids were high, despite taking a fibrate med and rather than change the med, she added Actos (to my Metformin) and said i had insulin resistance. i don t understand why i ve been given more diabetes meds for high cholesterol!

yes they are interrelated
increase cholesterol means your body is not processing glucose as it is suppose to and if glucose is not broken down in the correct way it converts to fatty acids and ultimately cholesterol
so increase in cholesterol is an indication of insulin resistance which in turn is a cause of type 2 diabetes
by regulating your glucose levels your cholesterol levels will come down it’s even more effective than statins because statins mobilises cholesterol from peripheral tissue to liver which is good but not so effective
and glucose control inhibits formation of cholesterol which actually is better
