Are Dizziness, Nausea And Headaches Side Effects Of Azithromycin Intake?

Hello, I took Azithromycin for an upper respiratory infection in August. Roughly two weeks later I started feeling weak, sluggish, light headed, dizzy with slight headaches and nausciousness. The episodes last from a minute to ten minutes at a time and have been going on now for six weeks. Can this be a side effect and how long can it last? Is there a test I can take to see if I am allergic to Azithromycin? My doctor took blood and did other tests and ruled out Lymes disease and vertigo, but we still don t have an answer. Thanks for any help. Angelo

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I don't think this is an allergic reaction to azithromycin since it lasted too long (6 weeks).

Probably you need to see an ENT doctor to check for a middle ear infection, Meniere's disease or other related problems.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
