Are Dryness, Swelling And Pain In The Lips Indicative Of An Infection?
for about the last 2 weeks my lips have been dry feeling, swollen in spots, raw, peeling. When I bend over they throb. also at night when I go to bed they throb. I have not changed my medications. Eat well and drink moderate amount of water. What could it be?
As per your complain the symptoms of Dry lips with swelling and spots can be due to causes like cause like dehydration, allergies, fungal infection etc.. In case of the spots that you are describing is in the form of fluid filled blisters then it can be due to Herpes virus infection causing Cold Sores..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like microscopic examination of scraping from the lips and blood tests can help in diagnosis. Appropriate treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now apply thick coat of Petroleum jelly over the lips.. Beeswax containing lip balm can also help.. Do cool compresses over the lips.. Avoid licking or sucking the lips..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
