Are Ear Pain, Swollen Cheeks And Swollen Gums Around Wisdom Teeth Pericoronitis Symptoms?
I think I have Perocoronitis I have swollen gums around my lower left wisdom tooth and my neck and cheek is swelling with a mild ear ache. I was just at my dentist two weeks ago and he told me there was no need to get this tooth removed can I just go see my family doctor for antibiotics ??
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
As per your complain swollen gums around wisdom tooth along with swollen cheek and side of neck is an indication of Pericoronitis and you need to first of all consult an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated and along with a thorough clinical evaluation he can also advise you an x ray of the tooth to check whether tooth is impacted or erupting properly.. In case if the tooth is impacted then extraction of tooth can be done for permanent relief.. In case if tooth is not impacted then he can advise you to take antibiotics, painkillers, warm saline gargles and gargle with antiseptic mouthwash.. In case if still recurs then surgical removal of gum flap will be advisable..
Hope this information helps.
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
