Are Episodes Of Tachycardia Something To Be Concerned About?
I am 68 year old female. 2 years ago I had 3 episodes of tackacardia resulting in fainting spell. In one episode was given drug to stop a heartbeat of 345 bpm. Electrophysiology study showed electrical short next to synodical node. Was therefore unable to do ablation. 5 mg of bystolic is controlling since but now my pulse,is thready . Is this something to be concerned about.? I seem to be fatigued also.
Hi welcome to HCM. You seem to paroxysmal SVT/supraventricular tachycardia.THis could be secondary to any complete degree of heart blocks originating in the ventricular muscle. These can lead to fainting spells due to reduced blood supply to brain.24hr holter EKG along with screening 2 dimensional echo can help to accurately pick up the cause.Intracardiac defibrillators can lead to prompt resolution of symptoms. Consult your cardiologist for further queries. Thank you
