Are Excessive Phlegm And Bad Nasal Odor Suggestive Of Sinus Infection?
I have phlegm that needs to be snorted up, or coughed out, and a bad smell in my nostrils. Also started getting a tickle in my throat that causes me to cough. Is it a sinus infection? I went through a course of antibiotics and it didn t do anything.
Understamding your concern. As per your query you are suffering from phlegm in the throat and bad odor in the nostrils which is leading to sinusitis. You need not to worry about it. You should drink plenty of water. You should take antobiotic for 5 days along with anti inflammatory medications such as Sinarest along with this. You should put nasal sprays in nostris. Avoid use of cold liquid substances. You should visit ENT specialist once and get paranasal sinus X-ray done to check extent and level of infection. You should start medication once diagnosis is made out. Take steam inhalation Apply mist humidifiers in room. Avoid oily food. Take diet rich in multivitamins. You should gargle 2-3 times daily.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
