Way bigger then the normal fingers, And I used to be an heroin addict up until 7-23-14 but I used my fingers and feet to inject and now that I m sober my ex s hands have gone back to normal somewhat but mine have not. Both my parents are diabetic and I ve probably ate way to much sugar in my life so my question is: is fat fingers a symptom of diabetes?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
Having large fingers is not a common symptom of diabetes. However, diabetes can cause changes in the blood vessels and nerves, leading to various complications such as peripheral neuropathy and swelling. Swelling of the fingers may cause them to appear larger than normal.
If you are concerned about the size of your fingers, it is recommended that you consult a healthcare professional for an evaluation. Additionally, if you have a family history of diabetes and have consumed a lot of sugar in your diet, it is recommended that you get screened for diabetes as well.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
