Are Faster Heartbeats And Lightheadedness Normal While On Amlodipine And Lisinopril?
My 46 year old husband just got diagnosed with high blood pressure. It was around 216/124. Last Thursday Doctor put him on amlodipine 5mg and lisinopril hctz 20-12.5mg. Now his blood pressure has come down to 120/80 but pulse is around 87. He is getting spells of heart beating in neck/throat then lightheaded, sweaty and nausea. He goes back to the doctor Monday and they said not to stop taking medication. Do you have any suggestions until then? The nurse only said to go to ER.
As per my clinical experience, the amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker drug used for dilation of blood vessels and improve blood flow in variety of hypertensive conditions. There are many side effects of Amlodipine, common ones are being: - Headache - Flushing - Palpitation - Feeling of tachycardia - Swelling lower limbs - Others It is best recommended to get dose adjustment with your doc as the BP is under control now, which will help you to avail of the ill effects of Amlodipine.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
