Are Fever And Constipation Symptoms Related To Hernia?
My husband pushed a washing machine in squatting position after which he developed pain in left side of groin.Till his appointment with the GP he had ibuprofane 400mg tablets(as advised by NHS direct) When he was examined by a local GP on this Monday, he said it was reducible inguinal hernia for which he suggested a ultrasonography. We r yet waiting for an appointment for the same. Yesterday evening, my husband suddenly had fever 101F for which he took paracetamol at night. Today, he did not have any fever but again now in the evening he has fever 102 F . Also he has had constipation for past 2-3 days(no stools) he is also feeling pain at left groin (hernia). Are these fever and constipation symptoms related to hernia? What should i do ? what are emergency hospitalization symptoms of hernia? PLEASE help..
As your husband is diagnosed as inguinal hernia, I will recommend you to do ultrasound abdomen and pelvis and take surgeon opinion as soon as possible.
The emergency hospitalization symptoms for the hernia are: 1) Severe abdominal pain 2) Nausea, vomiting 3) Fever 4) Constipation 5) Abdominal bloating
All the above symptoms indicate intestinal obstruction. As your husband had already developed a fever and constipation, so I think you have to go to the emergency as soon as possible. Don’t give any laxative to him now.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Shyam B. Kale
