Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Are Fever And Migraine Related To Menstrual Bleeding And Pelvic Pain?
I m a 44 yr. Old woman. I have had a mild fever for 3 days and a severe migraine as well all 3 days , although I ve gotten migraines before. I m having abnormal menstrual bleeding too and mild pelvic pain today and the blood is very rotten smelling. I ve had this smell associated with menstrual blood and also bleeding after sex since January. I m wondering if these are related or maybe I have an infection. I haven t seen a doctor for this menstrual odor although I did complete a round of antibiotics for bacterial vaginosis in March, which did nothing.
As the medicines for vaginosis has given no results, I would recommend a swab culture report of the vaginal discharge as the symptoms are all suggestive of cervical or vaginal infection with pelvic inflammation and pelvic pain, menstrual bleeding with rotten smell. Along with culture report, complete blood counts, blood sugar and an ultrasound of the abdomen & pelvis will serve best evaluation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
