Hi there,
It is possible that you may be having a
urinary tract infection. It has been known to happen after intercourse theoretically due to the movement pushing bacteria into the bladder. It
fits the symptoms that you are having, and yes sometimes there can be blood in the urine.
You will need a course of antibiotics like
Ciprofloxacin or
Amoxicillin from your local doctor's, who will probably run a quick urine dipstick test beforehand. Another type of medication you can try are urinary alkalinisers like
potassium citrate or
Ural.
Make sure you drink enough water, and to avoid future urine infections, don't hold your pee - when you need to go, just go. To prevent it from happening after intercourse, try to remember to pee afterwards so that whatever bacteria is in your bladder gets flushed out as soon as possible.
Also note that withdrawal, or pulling out, is not a safe method to avoid
pregnancy, regardless of how confident he is. Sit down and discuss with your boyfriend about long term birth control like condoms or pills if you intend to continue having sex. Watch for your periods this time, and do a urine pregnancy test if you are a week or more late. It is unlikely that you will have any symptoms before that.
Hope this helps, and please let me know if you have further questions.
Regards,
Dr. Teh
