Are Fluids Building Up In The Knee A Cause For Concern?

hello. my wife has been experiencing fluid build up on her right knee. she had it drained , but the knee began to swell the very next day. it s very painful to walk or stand on it. she had a MRI and are awaiting results. any guesses? This has been going on for about 2 months

She is having synovial effusion of the right knee joint. The fluid drained from the knee should also be sent for bacterial culture and antibiotic sensitivity test to see if it is infected and if she needs to take antibiotics. Rest to the knee is important. The MRI report will be very helpful in the diagnosis and management. Till then please let her take good amount of rest to the knee.
