Are Gallstones Fatal When Gallbladder Is Not Removed?
If you do not have your gallbladder removed when you have gall stones can it possibly kill you? I had mine removed 2 years ago. But my mom spent 2 days in the emergency room with hers and she was told she needed to have it removed but she refuses to do it. I just worry that it could possibly kill her if it is not removed. PLEASE HELP!!!
Hello You didn't mention the age of your mother as well as her general condition. Now read this carefully and you will get the answer: Once a patient has had GALL-STONE colic, no question arises as to the treatment that should be recommended : it is CHOLECYSTECTOMY ( removal of gall bladder ) , unless the patient is very old or otherwise enfeebled, when cholecystostomy may be substituted . In few cases of gall stone it may turn into gall bladder cancer , why , exact etiology is not known . So if your mother is good in condition then please get in surgery . Hope this will help you.
