My baby is6 months old and is passing green stools since a couple of days. He eats 1 spoon of cerelac in the morning and 1 spoon at night and rest of the day he is breast fed.he weighs 9 kgs and shows good activity. His stools have no foul smell. He shows no signs of constipation either.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Green stools in breastfed infants could be because-

-The imbalance between foremilk & hindmilk (resulting in frothy green stools)
-Intolerance to something in mother's diet eg: cow's milk
-While teething excessive saliva can cause green stools
-Some times viral infection can cause green stools

Green stool need not be a cause of concern every time. If you know the causes you can decide about need of doctors consultation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
