Are Headache, Drowsiness And Muscular Pain Signs Of Chikungunya?
Hi, A month ago my husband was in india he had fewer, running nose and headache, he took medicing prescribed by a local Doctor and later after a week he went back to US, from the day one he got headache and drowziness and muscular pain dizziness for past 3 weeks, is that due to chickengunya or some other symptoms?
Hello, Thanks for posting in HCM. Fever, body pain, headache are constitutional symptoms which can be seen from a viral fever to any infection like as you said chikungunya or malaria or others. It does not point to any specific disease as it will be present in almost all febrile illnesses. Chikungunya usually presents with severe joint pains especially of knee joint so as that patient can’t stand without support. But again it is differently seen in different patients. As it persists from 3 weeks I would suggest getting proper blood checked for presence of any infection like typhoid, malaria or presence of any other diseases depending on other signs he might have after doing a detailed physical examination. It will be advisable to consult your doctor for proper examination and other blood investigations so as to arrive at a diagnosis and treat the causative factor. I hope I have answered your query well. If you have any more question kindly write back to me, will be happy to help you out. Thank you
