Are Heavy Periods And Uterine Fibroids A Cause For Concern?
Is an endometrial stripe that measures 0.8 cm normal? Recently had an ultrasounds and says my uterus has changed from 11 x 4 x 6 cm to 12 x 6.3 x 5.2 cm. The border of the uterus is irregular and there are multiple fibroids present. One fibroid seen in the posterior wall measuring at 5.3 x 4.6 x 3.4 cm and another one seen in the anterior wall measuring 2.4 cm. I have had heavy periods and a lot of low pain. Should I be concerned?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. One of the cause for dysfunctional uterine bleeding (DUB) is presence of multiple fibroids. Since the ultrasound report says that your uterus is increasing in size, it would be appropriate for you to get evaluated and treated for it without much delay. Presence of fibroid would cause endometrial reaction during each cycle and thus leads to increased bleeding. This could lead to various essential elements deficiency like iron and calcium, which could further complicate your situation. Kindly consult Gynecologist with the reports at the earliest for proper evaluation and management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
