Are Irregular Menstrual Periods Caused Due To PCOS?

Hi, I have irregular periods once in 2 months for last 5 years,even though my hormones levels are normal.but ultrasound showed that I have polycystic ovaries. What might be the reason? How am I getting irregular periods when my hormonal levels are normal?do I need to be on the pill to conceive?

You that if you have PSOS your periods may be irregular or may stop altogether due to a high level of androgen and excess insulin.
