Are Itchy, Discolored Bumps On Body Post Mosquito Bites A Cause For Concern?
I was bitten repeatedly over my legs and arms by mosquitoes about 7 days ago. they started off very red and itchy with large hard lumps. Now the lumps have gone down slightly but are now very purple looking and just as itchy. Im using anti histamine along with hyrocortisone. I m just wondering is this normal to have them for as long ,do i need something stronger from my GP

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hai Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to allergic reaction from mosquito bite. Usually antihistamines like cetirizine and calamine lotion locally will be helpful to relieve the condition. But if there is no improvement consultation with a dermatologist is well appreciated. More potent corticosteroids and antihistamines might be needed in such case. You can also apply aloe vera. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
