Are Levothyroxine Tablets Effective In PCOD Treatment?
i am 23 years old woman with 56 kg weight.i have my TSH level 5.0 and my physician told me that i have hypothyroid and she prescribed me thyronorm 50mg.i take that medicine for 6 months.for the last two years i didn t take any medicine.Now i have severe hair loss which is not imaginable, but i have unwanted hairs on my face.its totally unfair.I have PCOD problem too(but i have regular menstrual cycle) These are my results on december-2014...T3-108.69 ng/dl T4-8.60 micro gram/dl TSH-3.11 microIU/ml. physician told me that my hormone levels are balanced now...but my hair loss on head and unwanted hair growth on my face are vigorous...Shall i intake again the levothyroxine tablets.

Levothyroxine is given to normalize reduced thyroid hormone reduced thyroid cause menstrual irregularity and PCOD is also a syndrome of irregular menstruation and absent ovulation. So yes, thyroid management is part of treatment of PCOD and Levothyroxine would help in PCOD.
