Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Are Lower Back Pain, Rashes And Sweating Suggestive Of Heat Stroke?
My husband is 64 years old, pre diabetic. 220 lbs. Takes meds, Prozac, levothyroxine, metformin, fluoxetine, hydroclorot. Began feeling ill 36 hours ago, after a heavy night of drinking, and working in the sun most of the afternoon. Refuses food, drinking a little water. Lower back pain, can barely stand up without pain, thigh sized pink rash on left groin/thigh area. Looked terrible this morning, eyes puffy, red in the face, sweating. I m thinking possible heat stroke, dehydration?
I'm afraid from what you are saying your husband is really going through heat stroke. As he is pre-diabetic, and waking up with swelling of eyes and legs, to me should send to ER as soon as possible. He really needs immediate medical assistance, and perhaps intravenous treatment. Discuss with his caring doctor as soon as possible or just send him to ER.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
