Are Mammograms Safe Before IVF Cycles?

Trying to conceive and scheduled for IVF in Sept., I am required to have a mammogram prior to IVF due to age, 40. It is scheduled for tomorrow, day 13 of my cycle, positive OPK occurred on Day 9. This is our last cycle to try before the IVF and we have had intercourse on the approximate ovulation day. Is is safe to go ahead with the scheduled mammogram? Is there any risk this early should I possible have been lucky enough to become pregnant this cycle?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the mammogram expose you for the risk of local radiation and not the systemic ill effect. You can safely take the mammogram before IVF cycle without any medical side effect.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
