Are Mouth Ulcers And Epigastric Pain Connected?

Hi, I have mouth ulcers all around my outer gums. I was in the ER for 5 days and the day before the ER, half an hour after a very stressful visit with someone, 5 ulcers erupted on my tongue. They do run in the family. I have a diagnosis of severe gastritis. They did a push enterescopy. I don't have the biopsy results back. There is no history of stomach or abdominal problems or cancer in my family. Are the mouth ulcers and epigastric pain connected? I read that they may be for Crohn's disease but not gastritis. I've had the mouth ulcers (that have spread from my tounge to my gums for over a week.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain there is a possibility that severe gastritis is also leading to acid reflux in case if you also have symptoms of heartburn, irritation in throat and sour and acidic taste in mouth..
Acid reflux can be a potent cause of mouth ulcers..
Stress is another potent cause.
In case if it is not evident then mouth ulcers or canker sores can be due to other causes like deficiency of iron and vitamin B12, hormonal imbalances, excess intake of sour foods, physical injury etc..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis and treatment of underlying cause can help in resolution..
As of now you can start taking multivitamins daily..
Gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine to relieve pain..
You can also take Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen..
Avoid hot and spicy food..
Take soft diet and drink plenty of water..
Suck on ice pops to reduce inflammation..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
