Are Muscles Spasms Indicative Of Nutritional Deficiency In A 62 Year Old?
I am a 62 yo white female in good general health. I exercise and eat healthy. 5 4 165#Lately I get terrible muscle spasms in my feet, hands and sometimes my legs which occur if I move the wrong way. I can feel them coming on and if I change positions or stand they quit before getting bad. Could this be coming from my back or a nutritional deficiency?
Hello, It could be some vitamin or mineral deficiency or a mild dehydration which makes the muscles irritated. Drink at least 8 (6oz) glasses of water daily, stretch before and after exercise and take a multivitamin/multimineral supplement daily. Taking a magnesium supplement at bedtime may also be helpful. Also avoid caffeine and alcohol which can make dehydration worse. Regards
