Are Night Sweats, body Chills And Headache Suggestive Of Having Flu?

We have just returned from Egypt and my partner has some sort of flu like symptoms. He awoke in the night soaking wet. Had the chills and couldn t get warm and splitting headache all day. Now he has aches and says it feels like his neck is all stiff. Not feeling too well at all. Should we be worried as we both got bitten by mosquitoes whilst there? Thank you Debbie

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Welcome at HCM
I appreciate your health concerns
What is his age? Is there fever associated? Any history of bleeding?
In my opinion you should visit your doctor so that you can be properly examined and investigated.
There is need to get your FBC ESR along with chest x ray. It seems he has got some infection going on. It could be malaria or typhoid etc which need to be excluded...
Meanwhile stay calm and use acetaminophen to relieve pain.
Hope it helps
