Are Pepto Bismal Tablets Helpful To Cure Microscopic Colitis?
I have microscopic colitis and am taking 2 3mg tablets daily. It is very expensive and I wonder if there is something as effective but less costly? Also, I read that pepto bismal tablets are helpful. What is the recommended dose and frequencyof this treatment?
Yes, Pepto Bismol use dramatically improves patient condition and symptoms in microscopic collitis. Pepto Bismol is used along with anti inflammatory agents for optimum improvement. Other therapies include a low fat, lactose free diet, antibacterial agents, sulfasalazine. Corticosteroids are used in patients where Sulfasalazine treatment fails.
The dosage of Pepto-Bismol is 8 tablets per day for 8 weeks for symptomatic relief.
Hope this answers your question, thank you.
