Are Positive HPV Virus, Low Blood Count And Heavy Periods A Cause For Concern?

My wife is in her late 40 s she has had abnormal bleeding during her menstrual cycle this passed month January, tested positive for the HPV virus and has a low white blood count. She is schedule in a few weeks to visit a gynecologist and a hematologist for more evaluations? Please advise if this should be an area of concern or should we wait for the results?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Low white blood cell count (leucopenia) can occur in a variety of settings , some more serious than others.
Possible causes are infection, side effect of medication, conditions such as myelodysplastic syndrome or some cases of leukemia.

In most cases, it is not due to serious illness.

HPV can lead to warts or changes in the cervix but some persons may have the virus with no symptoms or signs.

I hope this helps
