Are Presence Of Bacteria And Pus Cells Shown In Vaginal Scab During Pregnancy A Cause For Concern?

Hi, i am 15 weeks pregnant and i hv been on duphaston (twice daily) since i got bleeding once in 6th week, 11th and 12 th week . since then sometimes i have been getting light red when i pass urine and wash also i get some debris kind.when my obgyn did a vaginal swab i tested negative for trichomonas vaginalis but showed presence of fungus and bacteria with pus cells 20-25 hpf and RBCs 100 hpf. My fetus is healthy so far. Is it something to be concerned of?

Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, any urinary tract infection during any stage of pregnancy must be taken care of on vigilant basis.

* As there are all chances of spreading infection to your kidney and further damage your urinary system and if that ends up in systemic sepsis, surely that can harm your healthy baby.

My guidelines for better recovery

- drink more liquids
- consume potassium citrate as urinary alkaliser
- plenty of citrus containing fruits
- chewable vitamin c
- keep genitals hygiene at its best
- avoid sexual intercourse till recovery
- prescription antibiotics and anti fungal as per the sensitivity report of the culture swab.
