Are Quick Breathlessness And Interrupted Breathing Pattern In A Child A Cause For Concern?
Hi My 5 year old seems breathless quite quickly when running. He had a lot of chest infections as a baby but not many since 2 years old. I ve noticed, also, that when he s sleeping sometimes his breathing is interrupted as in he breathes in holds & breath for couple seconds before exhaling. Are either of these a cause for concern? Thanks
Kindly please visit a cardiologist to rule out any congenital cardiovascular diseases that give rise to breathlessness and intrupted breaths during sleep. Congenital heart problems may also trigger chest infections, hence a thorough clinical examination is necessary. May your child get well soon.
