Are Rare WBCs In A Vaginal Swab Report While Having Recurrent Uterine Infection A Serious Concern?
I ve had a recurring low-grade uterine infection treated twice with Flagyl. The third vaginal swab was sent in for genital culture with gram stain. It came back with Result 1 - rare white blood cells, Result 2 - few gram positive rods. I have no idea what this means and haven t been able to get an answer from my obgyn yet. Can you interpret?
Your gram stain report shows presence of occasion pus cells. Pus cells are white blood cells only nothing else. But don't worry about the occasional presence of it. Second positive finding is presence of gram positive rod.
Bacteria can be divided into gram positive and negative bacteria. Gram positive bacteria include staphylococci, streptococcus and pneumococci like organism. With culture report underlying organism will be isolated and accordingly medicine can be prescribed.
