Are Recurring UTIs Post Unprotected Sex Suggestive Of STD?

Hi, I ve had sex on October 14th, vaginal and oral unprotected. I ve not tested myself yet however ever since I got sick more frequently and two times UTI within 3months. What tests should I perform to make sure I m 100% clean and don t carry any diseases and make sure there won t be diseases that show up later with time?!

Hi, welcome to HCM. Thanks for asking your query at this forum.
We understand your concern. I have read your question carefully and understood it. I will try my best to answer it.

As you told, you had unprotected intercourse in Oct 2014 and now you are worried about contracting STD. In case of STDs the symptoms appear within few days of exposure, except HIV (which may not be evident for many months). If you suffered any discharge, ulcer, lymph node swelling, burning micturation, bleeding from urethra/genitals within few days of exposure then there may be chances of having some kind of STD. If it is not then the infection is less likely. However HIV may not show any symptom initially and test becomes positive after 3 months of infection.

Recurrent UTI may be due to other reasons as well. I suggest you to get Elisa for HIV, VDRL, urine culture etc to be sure and get treated if diagnosed for any infection. All sexual infections except HIV can be completely cured after completion of treatment and there is no recurrence later in life till you get re-infected.

I hope it answers your query. I wish you all the best.
