Are Recurring Fever And Congestion In A Toddler Indicative Of Strep Throat?
My 3 month old son usually has a temperature in the mid to low 97's. The past 2 days he has been running 99.3-99.6. He is congested and he has also been fussy today. Today we found out that another child in the home has strep throat. Is this something I should be concerned about?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that your son is suffering from Upper Respiratory Tract Infection also known as common cold and the symptoms of cold, congestion and mild fever are due to it.. As it is a viral infection, it will resolve once the virus completes its course in human body.. I would suggest you to consult a Paediatrician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like blood tests can help in confirmation.. You can be advised Acetaminophen to reduce fever and also saline nasal drops to relieve congestion.. Use a humidifier in his room.. Make him sleep with head slightly raised and chin tilted down as it helps in easing drainage.
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
