Are Recurring Fever, Cough, Scratchy Throat And Cold In A Child A Cause For Concern?
My 7 year old had a 101 temp on Monday and it went down. Tues and Weds morning at 98 and 99 but both evenings it was 102. tonight was 103. we have taken temp under her arm and add a point. Scratchy throat, cough and runny nose. Is this serious? Giving Tylenol before bed. should I wake her up and give it to her every 4 hours? Says she feels tired but otherwise ok. 2 year old has runny nose now too.
Understanding your concern. As per your query your child have fever, cold and cough in a child which is due to upper respiratory tract infection. I would suggest you to consult pediatrician for proper examination as infection has already spread. You should get throat swab test, viral culture test, complete blood profile to find out extent of infection.
You should start with antibiotic such as augmentin along with decongestants. Don't wake up child every 4 hourly. For now do warm saline gargles. Take steam inhalation. Take proper rest, keep yourself hydrate. Maintain hygiene. Take diet rich in multivitamins.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
