Are Recurring Red Bumps Around The Penis Head Suggestive Of HIV?

The doctor said I am low on vitamin D. He gave me a vitamin D2 50,000 unit supplement. He also ask if I every been tested for HIV, and I said no. I been getting these red bumps that will come and go away every month. I also have some white/red looking little bumps around the edge of my penis head. Is that a sign of HIV or no?

Hi,

Noted your history of recurring red bumps around head of penis which your Doctor has treated with Vitamin D, asked for HIV.
HIV may not present in such a way in the usual cases.
Hence this can just be a recurring Balanoposthitis.
Diabetes should be ruled out.
Since you have not mentioned about your sexual activities it is difficult to say further about the possibilities.
Any way, the treatment is as follows:
Clean the area with plain water, do not use soap.
Apply Liquid povidone.
Oral Metronidazole and probiotics may help.
Use loose clothing.
Allow aeration.
Avoid hot and humid atmosphere.
Use protection during sexual activities if you are sexually active.
Surely yes, get the STD panel done if you had unprotected sex.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
