Are Red Spots On The Banana An Indication Of Spoilage?
Today I had bought a banana with my breakfast and when I had bitten into it, I noticed there were red spots in it. I’m really concerned that someone put something in the banana - though I don’t have any symptoms other than a slight tingle and numbness on the right/back of my tongue. I just hope I’m being dramatic, but everyone I’ve spoken to about it is freaking me out with their theories.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
This does not imply that someone poisoned the banana but may indicate that the banana was infected with a fungus. This infection is associated with the abnormal color of bananas. Since you did not use a lot or any of it, no complications are likely.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
