Are Red Streaks Along The Veins A Matter Of Medical Emergency?

I am an IV drug user and use several times a day I have recently experienced red streaked veins after I shoot. there is no pain but its definetly concerning. Is it something i need to seek immediate medical attention for or just discontinue using at that site for a period of time ?

This is possible thrombophlebitis at the injection site. Primary guidelines
- apply ice over the veins 3 times a day.
- avoid taking shots at the same place till complete recovery.
- if the redness persists, consult your family doctor
