Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Are Seizure, Vomiting And Lethargy Indications Of The Need For Shunt Replacement?
I has a resident with one shunt at age 12, now he s in 36 years old. He has a big history of seizure, vomited and episode. of lethargy that usually for several hours. The doctor that made the operation told the mother that when he(or resident now) coming old the shunt need to be chanted, my question is, all the symptom that he has for several years are because the shunt is the same or is ok, also what do you think about that.
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, changing of stunt may not helps because it get blocks soon again, and it may not be the underlying cause of symptoms seizures and other, but it could be cerebral pathology, better to stay dependent on medicines and nursing care, hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
