Are Septated Cyst In Both Upper Poles And Tiny Cyst With Wall Calcification In The Right Kidney A Reason To Worry?

Dear Doctors, In just 14 months ago my septated cyst in both upper poles : Right side from 13.9 x 13.6mm to 18 x 14mm & Left side from 42 x 43 x 46mm to 58 x 56 x 41mm. Also a tiny cyst with wall calcification was noted in the mid segment of the right kidney which measures 5 x 4mm. Do I have to be alarmed in this ultrasound result? Most of the time my lower back is aching the whole day. What could be done to stop its growth? I m 59.5 years old, happily married w/ 4 kids, male, not a drunkard and non smoker. I did some exercises just at home after I quit the gym activities 10 yrs ago. And I also have undergone a laparoscopic removal of my prostate gland in the mid 2014 due to cancer. My quarterly PSA monitoring result is just normal to an average of just 0.10 only. I will be looking forward and be thankful for any good advise that you can give to me. Yours Truly, IRB of Quezon Cty, Phils.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If your urine output is normal and usual then no need to worry. If you experience any of the warning sings then you have to consult your nephrologist

1. Hematuria

- blood in urine

2. Oliguria

- decreased urine output

3. High grade fever
4. Pus in urine

Advice would be to avoid self medication for fever and body pain. Especially NSAIDS (non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs ) should be avoided.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
