Are Severe Pain In The Neck And Cold Side Effects Of The Shingles Vaccine?

i have a severe pain ,throbbing in my left neck so its hard to turn my head...just recently had a bad cold and and have just in the last few days updated the Shingles shot. the spot is still red..is this a side affect or something to do with the carotid artery

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Shingles vaccine is given as single dose of 0.65 ml by SC route in the deltoid region.It does not cause torticollis as you have described.
Torticollis ('stiff neck') with one or more painful neck muscles is sometimes attributed to draughts, colds ; however in many cases no clear cause is found.It resolves spontaneously.
