Are Shortness Of Breath, Feeling Of Rapid Heart Rate Side Effects Of Intake Of Lisinopril For High BP?
I have recently (within the last month) been given lisinopril to control high blood pressure. I am now having periods of shortness of breath almost like panic attacks which I have never experienced before. It feels like my heart rate is rapid although checking my pulse it is in the 60's. I was just wondering if this could be a possible side effect of the new medication. I am an otherwise healthy 50 year old female.
Dear Friend Welcome to healthcare magic. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. Lisinopril is unlikely to cause increase in pulse rate or anxiety episodes. However this can occur if the dose is high and your blood pressure is falling below base line. I would suggest you to get your investigations done and also get an ECG and bp recording. Do get your serum potassium levels checked. Hope this helps you. You may write to us again if you have any further query. Stay Healthy
